Three Painters

Works by Peter Edlund, Leslie Shows and Fred Tomaselli

Opening January 12, 5:30-7:30pm

An exhibition of new paintings by three acclaimed artists; Leslie Shows from San Francisco, Fred Tomaselli from Brooklyn, and Peter Edlund, long-time resident of San Francisco, now living in Brooklyn. All three artists derive their images from an interest in nature: Shows and Tomaselli use collage to depict harsh landscapes and birdlife respectively, while Edlund shows landscapes inspired by Native American language.

Nelson Gallery Director Renny Pritikin will lead visitors on an informal discussion of the current exhibition Poking at Beehives as well as selections from the Fine Arts Collection currently on view at the Nelson Gallery, UC Davis. Poking at Beehives is a three-person - Peter Edund, Leslie Shows, Fred Tomaselli - painting show that deals with the artists' ideas about nature. The permanent collection on view includes works on paper by major artists from Rembrandt to Cezanne, as well as newly acquired photographs by Northern California artists.
