NELSON GALLERY AT UC DAVIS PRESENTS THE HOUSE OF OTHERS; SEVEN STUDENTS RECEIVING MASTERS DEGREE IN FINE ARTS 2011 SHOW THEIR LATEST WORK

How are young artists responding to the changing environment for art in the world of facebook and twitter? Seven artists share their thesis exhibitions offering a range of responses starting on June 3, 2011 and running through June 24th, with a reception 5:30 to 7:30 on June 3rd.

"This small group of dedicated young artists offers a sneak peek at the concerns and investigations that will surface in contemporary art over the second and third decades of the 21st century," says Nelson Gallery director Renny Pritikin. Of the seven artists, three are painters: Mathew Zefeldt, Matthew Taylor, and Manuel Fernando Rios. Two are showing elaborate video and media art projects: Jen Cohen and Benjamin Rosenthal. Two are showing sculpture: Lisa Rybovich Cralle and Paul Taylor (who is also showing documentation of outdoor sculpture).

A catalogue will be available of the exhibition including short essays by Pritikin on each of the artists. This is the third exhibition at the new home of the Nelson Gallery on Old Davis Road in the former University Club. Please visit our website, nelsongallery.ucdavis.edu, for directions.
